PERFECTION (a poem)
A collision of perfection
in form, mind and motion
This moment - a hero is born
A conscious composition of expression:
Brows furrowed, nostrils flared, eyes focused.
His face - like the tendons of his neck -
displays tension.
But his stance reveals calmness
born from confidence
and like his story – it is classic
Steady hands, strong shoulders, precision
These tools capture a moment
which defies all expectations
and the laws of time
In a split second
Inspiration bears transformation
From bravery - action
From ‘Il Gigante’ –a hero
From the hands of the master-
A piece of history
A legend depicting strength in body and will
A perfect soul – chiseled into stone.
* This poem is about the creation of Michelangelo’s David. It also refers to the legend of David who, as a young boy, was the only person brave enough to fight the giant Goliath. He won his battle
